
Computer Basics (up to 6 Hours):
Students will discuss hardware & software, buying a computer and upgrading a computer. Understanding hardware components such as hard drives, RAM, monitors, speakers, modems, and printers. Understanding software types such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentation software, accounting, and web browsing. Introduction to Windows XP; logging on, using the mouse and keyboard and how to turn off your computer. Working with windows; closing minimizing, maximizing, sizing, and moving. Working with programs; using toolbars and menus, filling out dialog boxes, editing text, saving and opening files, using undo, printing and using help. Working with files and folders; understanding files and folders, creating and renaming folders, opening, renaming, and deleting files, finding a file using search. Exploring the Internet; introduction and connecting to the internet, browsing the web, displaying history, saving pictures, receiving email and replying to a message.
